OctPoWriMo 2016 Begins!

This is our fifth annual OctPoWriMo! Every year since 2012 you have joined us in everything poetry and we are so glad that you do. Of course every year we also have a few people join us for the first time as we have this year. If you are new to OctPoWriMo, don't hesitate to ask questions as we are more than happy to help you maneuver this poetry journey.

The people behind the curtain this year are, myself - Morgan Dragonwillow and Amy Phelps McGrath. We can't guarantee to get to every participating blog every day but at least one of us will try to get to your blog at least once a week

Remember, our prompts are only suggestions, where you find inspiration for your poetry is up to you.
During OctPoWriMo, if you want to make sure that we know you have written something new, comment in that day's post with your link to your blog and share your link on Twitter with the hashtag, #OctPoWriMo.

Coloring in, Inspirations: A Coloring Journal. -MDragonwillow

Day 1 Prompt: Time

Possibilities:

Time is such a constant in our lives, racing the clock, wishing it would go faster or slower. Rarely do we get off the train of time and focus solely in the moment. What does time mean to you?

Write for ten minutes about an instant that time stood still, with as much detail as you can.

If you choose to, write a shape poem.

Word Prompts:

age
generation
stretch
shift
moment

Music to stir your imagination and connect to your muse:

If you haven't signed up yet, there's still time. =)  OctPoWriMo link up. Remember to tell all your poet friends and lover of words to come check it out by sharing the hashtag #OctPoWriMo across social media!

Peace,
Morgan Dragonwillow

  1. Team Netherworld is writing our poems in advance, so unfortunately we won't be able to take advantage of the fun word and style suggestions this time around.
I so appreciate having all the main word prompts in advance. I am working an average of 50 to 60 hours a week. I have a Chromebook and I have down time if I'm lucky. I work nights as a pediatric home care nurse. So, about that down time thing...
This year all our poems are related to our WIP novel, Fetch, and can be found at either poetryofthenetherworld.blogspot.com or peppersfetch.blogspot.com
Thank you for hosting the prompt.

    1. Hi Cie, This is one of the reasons I chose to do things differently, people have lives and it's easier if they know what the prompts are ahead of time. I tried to comment on your blog post but it wouldn't give me the comment box to write in. Not sure if it's a problem on your end or on mine. I'm currently using my phone, later I'll try again on my laptop. Glad you're writing along with us again this year.

      Peace,
      Morgan

  9. Hello! Thank you once again for hosting this. I've missed this community so! : )

Here is my first post for OctPoWriMo 2016. I did not address the prompt directly, but I did try to address both a.) how I use my time and b.) what this time/era will defined by (especially in relation to the horrors of what's happening in Syria).
