Poetry Writing Challenges

Congratulations, you made it all the way to the end of OctPoWriMo 2014! It has been a wonderful journey this year from September's poetry tips through October's poetry prompts. Some of you have been with us every single day and some of you popped in when your schedule permitted.

You shared your poems - your heart, your life, your experiences - with us and they have touched our hearts. We have one last prompt for you and we look forward to reading your poems.

OctPoWriMo Poetry Prompt #30 - The Day Before....

Ironic: Today is the day before the final day of OctPoWriMo.

This is the last prompt I am writing and it is coming to you late.  I wish I had written this yesterday, like I had thought at one point.

Alas, I didn’t.

And now, I have the just right prompt for this just right moment.

Poetry Prompts - For All the Loves You've Loved Before

The time is drawing near for the last day of OctPoWriMo and this poetry challenge. It makes me think of things in the past and when I think of things from the past I think of past loves.

When first falling in love there are the moments of joy and euphoria, being completely head over heals. When the honeymoon phase was over did you start noticing all the things that you used to love but now annoy the heck out of you or are they still endearing? Are you one of the lucky ones and your love keeps growing each day.

Poetry Prompts:

What phase of love are you in, before, during, or after? Are you dancing with euphoria or are you crying with despair at the unfairness of life and love?

Is your relationship one of passion and romance, playful and fun, or each of you doing your own thing?

Is your beginning love story one of magic or of fumbling awkwardness?

OctPoWriMo Day 28 Poetry Prompt - Hunger + Secondary Emotion = Your Successful Poem

Today, as we enter the very last of OctPoWriMo, we will focus on one of the most basic experiences, one which we have all known at some level:

Prompt: Hunger + Secondary Emotion = Your Poem

HUNGER - as told by Merriam Webster:

1.

a feeling of discomfort or weakness caused by lack of food, coupled with the desire to eat.

"she was faint with hunger"

synonyms:

lack of food, hungriness, ravenousness, emptiness; More starvation, malnutrition, famine, malnourishment, undernourishment "she was faint with hunger"

o  a severe lack of food.

"they died from cold and hunger"

o  a strong desire or craving.

"her hunger forknowledge"

synonyms:

desire, craving, longing, yearning, hankering, appetite, thirst; More want, need; informalitch, yen "a hunger for news"
