Day 31 Prompt: Eternal

When I think of eternal, I think there isn't much that is eternal, at least not on this earth. When I wrote this prompt, I believe I was thinking how even though OctPoWriMo is coming to an end, our words are forever - what we wrote during this month and beyond. What does eternal mean to you?

Day 27 Prompt: Favorite Scent

Fragrance is a powerful thing. It can bring you back to your favorite meal your mother used to make, to your first kiss, to any number of events in your life.

Free write for 10 minutes and see where your nose leads you, if your words need some encouragement, walk outside, down the street, through a mall, through a forest until your nose reminds you and the words begin to flow.

Poetry Prompts Day 25 - OctPoWriMo 2016

I can't believe we are in the last week of OctPoWriMo, it always goes by so fast. I hope you've enjoyed writing your poems this month and are stilling hanging in there to the end.

Day 25 Prompt: Red

When I was growing up I extremely disliked the color red, not sure if the fact I had red hair had anything to do with it or not. It wasn't until a few years back that I started to enjoy red and now I love it. I completely embrace red! How about you? Love it? Hate it? Don't feel anything about it?

I have always enjoyed big red barns though, I think it is because my great grandparents lived/owned/worked on their ranch with a big red barn and farmhouse. I loved having family gatherings out there.

Possibilities:

When was the last time you were out in nature? A nature walk? Lake, ocean, river? If you are able, get outside for a little while today, smell the air, listen to the birds, see what animals are nearby and then sit down to write. If you aren't able to get out for whatever reason, free write for ten minutes about the last time you were out in nature.

Poetry Prompts Day 20 - OctPoWriMo 2016

I'm enjoying my new job but I miss reading more of your poems. I haven't worked at a regular job in years and it is definitely taxing but I feel good about it. I'm trying to stay positive about the fact that it is taking so long to make a living from writing. For now it is going to have to be a part time endeavor.

On a super positive note, I was able to get my car fixed today which has been out of commission for several weeks. Yay!

I love trees, all types of trees, especially gnarly unusual trees. I even wrote a short story about a tree on my blog years ago - Essence of Life. I've been known to hug trees, sit below them and write and of course take lots and lots of photos of them.

I apologize for the lateness of this post, I'm having trouble keeping track of everything, this is the first time I am working at a job, watching my granddaughters, volunteering at their school and everyday living while facilitating OctPoWriMo. Change is usually difficult and you'd think by now I'd know that the best way to maneuver it would be to stop fighting the changes and just go with the flow, but it seems it is my life's mission to learn the hard way.

Poetry Prompts Day 10 - OctPoWriMo

I was allowed one day of feeling good (Friday). On Saturday, the first day of my new job, I was turning right onto a street from a parking lot. My light had turned green and as I began my turn I realized there was a woman crossing the street so I stopped to wait for her. Almost simultaneously a car hit me from behind. It seems another car hit her and pushed her car into me. The woman that hit my car told me that I stopped too fast. Um, no. I told her there wasn't such a thing as stopping too fast, I didn't argue it with her further.

My head, though didn't hit anything but my headrest, felt like it was going to explode off of my shoulders - the pain was that bad. An ambulance ended up taking me to the hospital where they ran several tests and gave me pain medication that left me quite loopy. The tests came back and they told me I didn't have any damage beyond musculature (that I just needed rest to heal) from the accident but, the CT showed I have fluid on the brain not related to the accident and told me I need to see a neurosurgeon within the next couple of days.

Goes to show you, even negative things that happen can turn out to be a positive. If I hadn't been in the accident, I never would have known what was going on in my head until damage, that couldn't be reversed, was done.

That is what has, "unfolded" for me this past weekend.

Has there ever been a time that something negative happened but because of it you discovered something positive? Free write for ten minutes diving into one or more of your experiences and then take us on a journey through your poetry, show us how the events unfolded.

You could take it in a different direction and free write about unfolded and see where it leads. Was there a time when you were doing laundry with someone and they didn't like how you were folding? Tell us about it.

Poetry Prompts Day 8 - OctPoWriMo 2016

You may think that the word for today is a strange word for a poetry prompt, but, there are places you can go with this, dance with this, that just might surprise you. Your poem doesn't have to have the actual word in it, it is about where the word takes you.

Thank you for all of your well wishes, I'm feeling much better today. I think I'm finally getting over this gunk, whatever it was.

Day 8 Prompt: Porous

Definition from Merriam-Webster
