May Mini-Challenge Day #1

Welcome to the mini-challenge for May! Sorry I'm a little late in posting the first prompt, but here goes.

Let's begin this challenge by writing about a day of the week that we don't particularly care for. My guess is most of us will choose Mondays as our least favorite day of the week, but if your schedule takes you in a different direction, go with it.

What is it about Mondays that we dislike so much? Sure, it's the end of the weekend which, for many people, means returning to a job after two days off. Describe how you feel when you wake up on Monday morning. Do you feel dread? Sadness? Frustration? Panic? Excitement? Anxiety? Gratitude?

Brainstorm for 10 minutes in a journal about Monday feelings.
What color is Monday?
What does it smell like? Taste like? Look like? Sound like? Feel like?
Capture as many sensory images as you can...

Z is for Zephyr: Poets on the Page Poetry Prompts from A-to-Z

Congratulations! You made it to the end!!
Z is for Zephyr:
  1. literary
    a soft gentle breeze.
  2. 2.
    historical
    a fine cotton gingham.
    • a very light article of clothing.
The inspiration to write poetry reminds me, at times
of a zephyr - those moments when you can
see the breeze... it wraps you up
in a cuddle which turns just
      slightly... unsettling as the words
      whirl, beginning to spiral
      insisting you pluck them
      from the air
      Zephyr starts with a whisper
she rises to shouts (if you choose
      not to listen.)
      Today, write a poem of...

      Zephyr...

As National Poetry Month 2014 comes to a close, reflect on your personal growth as a poet. Consider starting to create your creative intention for the rest of 2014 and beyond.

A to Z Poetry Word Prompt: X Factor - Every creation has the potential of having the x factor, of being a master piece. But you have to create them for them to have that possibility. That doesn't mean to put the pressure on, it means allow your creativity to flow, give it room to grow and expand.

What creation, poem, keeps tapping at you, wanting to be on the page?

Allow your unique voice full reign.

A to Z Poetry Word Prompts - Void

Have you ever allowed yourself to sit within the void or the place of no mind, when you are feeling stuck. It is an allowing of the blankness of thought and then allowing yourself to feel what comes up in the void. Not thought, just feelings.

A to Z Poetry Word Prompt - Void, write into the void, into a place of feeling, into the darkness, into the air around you.

What do you feel in the void?

A to Z Poetry Word Prompt - Unfinished

Have you ever written a poem that you stopped writing but didn't feel like it was really finished? Maybe it was a short poem that you felt could have been longer or a long poem that needed to be longer.
