January Poetry Mini-Challenge: Prompt #5 - Just Right
We did it! Day 5 of the January Mini-Challenge is here! Have you managed to write with us all week? If so, congratulations on your amazing accomplishment! If you haven't, that's ok, too. Join with us today. Your timing is "just right"!
On the first day of this challenge, I said there was a theme for the week - a method to my madness. Did you figure it out? Your prompts (clues) have been COLD, HOT, BIG, and SMALL. Your final hint is in the first paragraph above ... "just right". Now do you know where my inspiration came from?
If you guessed that I was inspired by the children's story Goldilocks and the Three Bears, then you are absolutely right! YOU WIN! YYyyyaaaaaayyyyyyy!!!! Don't ask me where this idea came from, though. I have no clue - but I hope it's been fun for you anyway!
Today, I want things to be "just right". What does that look like for you? What does "just right" feel like? sound like? smell like? taste like? Use all of your senses to lead you to today's poem.
Poetry Prompt: Write a "just right" poem. Tell us about the perfect place, time, person, pair of jeans or shoes... whatever it is that is "just right" for you.
Word Prompts: Right or Perfect or maybe even Comfortable
~ Amy McGrath
Please share a link to your poem below in the comments. Thank you for taking part in this challenge. We return to weekly prompts on Monday. The next mini-challenge will be the second week of February. Keep writing!

January Poetry Mini-Challenge: Prompt #4 - Small
Welcome! I hope you’re having as much fun with this mini-challenge as I am! If this is your first time joining us, don’t worry. You can come in at any point of the challenge as each prompt can stand alone… at least that’s my intent!
Thus far in the challenge,we have written about:
Cold
Hot
Big
That means today’s prompt is a “small” one. Small hands, small child, small world, small mind... what does "small" make you think of?
Poetry Prompt: Write a “small” poem. Perhaps you take that literally and write a haiku or another short form. Or maybe you will choose to write about something small - perhaps even microscopically so!
Word Prompt: Small

Welcome to day 2 of the January Poetry Mini-Challenge! If you were with us yesterday, welcome back. If you are just joining us, jump right in where we are - there is no “must” in this challenge!
Yesterday, we wrote around the idea of “cold”. Today, let’s turn up the heat!
Take a few minutes and do a free write around the concept of HOT. What comes to mind for you? Fire? Summer? Coffee? That certain man or woman? Sex? Whatever it is, let it come and work with it!
Poetry Prompt: Write a “hot” poem. Use ideas from your free-write or from the images below.
Word Prompt: Hot
Image Prompt: (choose one or none!)

December Mini Poetry Challenge Day 5: Celebrate!
Welcome to the last prompt from the December Mini-Challenge series from Poets on the Page!
I have completely enjoyed being on this ride and look
forward to the next time. I hope you do, too!
Yesterday we wrote cento poetry. Some of you may wonder why
I elected that particular form.
Naturally, there are several reasons. One is
you have the joy of reading other poems. Another reason is you not only read
the poems, you interact with the poems. From my experience, actually crafting
with a beloved (or at least well known) other poet is one of the ways I have
gotten to be a better poet.
Finally, there are so many surprises when we
collage our words with others.
So, this week you may have written a poem about destruction.
You were able to choose the three lines you thought were the most resonant and
use them to write another poem. That was sort of a premonition for the Cento –
choosing lines from another poem and building upon it.
And now, it is Friday – and we will celebrate our poetic
journey this week.
Even if this is your first time here, words and poetry and
sounds and gathering with other poets is, in my mind, always a perfectly fine
reason to celebrate.
Here is your chance to do a jig or make a poetic speech or
even write a limerick or two.
Just have fun! You’ve done a tremendous job and if you
missed any of the prompts, they’re not going anyplace – you may try them out at
any time – and I hope you will!
Word Prompt: Celebrate!
Energetic Prompt: We're having a poetry party!
Visual Prompt: See the dancing and festivities to the left.
If there is not a linky below, please leave your link in the comments so that others may come, visit and comment on your poetry celebrations!
Its been a joy to write with you!
